Question...

so until I get a new computer, I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue i've had for a while trying to play ET on my mac.
When I try to join a server it says I have to enable punkbuster
but when I do it still thinks I haven't.

Out of curiosity, have you tried joining a non-pb enabled server?

Yeah, I actually just played for an hour or so on one, and that works fine.
I've had this problem before, about 50% of macs seem to do it because the game really isn't made to be played on one.

You've tried updating PB both with pbsetup and manually?

When I was having problems with being kicked for PunkBuster problems, I installed "ET Starter Pro" at Snoob's suggestion, and patched my ET to start in 2.55. I don't know if your Mac can run ET Starter, or that running it in 2.55 will help you but it solved all my problems.

Oh and I did reinstall PB manually like Snoob suggested.

ET starter pro doesn't seem to exist for a mac.
Also 2.55 doesn't exist either
I'm currently trying to find a link that works to download the game again, re-install it and see if I can just get it running by luck

Either way, I think I'm going to get a desktop instead of a laptop, and I should probably have that by like the end of summer, I'm really just waiting to try to get a computer that will be able to run whatever the next Call of Duty will be, so i'll get one probably as soon as they release the specs for that.
Which will mean ET again as well.

So for until then I guess I'll just have to settle for joining bot only non-pb servers.

Nevermind
I think i got it working!
When I installed the PB files, it made a completely new folder called ET next to my old one that it put the files in, so i moved them into the right folder and I think it'll work now maybe!

It runs on PB servers again
except for the 4f server, when I join, says unpure client detected, invalid .pk3 files referenced.
and where the map name should be, it just says invalid
But it will work on other servers, I played for a couple minutes on an empty =OF=clan server.

Which patch are you using to connect to the 4F server?
What map is the server on when you tried connecting? Is your game configured to download on connection?

Ensure that the map pk3s are in the correct folder (etmain) and the etpub client and 4F serverpack are in your etpub folder.

By the way, if you need any of the files for ET, you can find them on our Enemy Territory page. The files for MAC are on there as well. And you're right, there is no 2.55 for MAC, and I've never seen anything even resembling a patch selector for MAC.
But are you trying to get on our server with the Game install only or with the 2.60b patch installed?

None of the links seem to work, but I'll just go find them online.
I think the etpub issue might be it, it doesn't seem to have gotten into my ET folder at all and its not called the same thing so I cant find it by searching, so i'll google it.

So yeah.
Even with etpub, the server still says that i have invalid pk3 files, and I checked that i'm on 2.60b
There also doesn't seem to be any ETPub downloads that are for Mac except when in game, though I did get one so that's not an issue.
Maybe i'll just have to wait for a PC for this server, though i will be able to get in practice again while i'm waiting

I know how you feel i have had so many issues with Et when i first got my comp it was INSANE and drove me crazy but then i met a few people and it all got worked out after a while and it was the best thing ever. I am sure snoob will help you figure all this stuff out he is a good dude and a good tech person just keep posting ur problem.

Idk, but I'm not ready to give up yet. Would be easier if we could chat on xfire or something, but...
Anywho, I fixed the link for the 2.60b Mac patch. That was the only one not working.

ETPub doesn't have a MAC download because it's a server side only Mod. AFAIK, there are no MAC servers running ETPub. Anyways, I know you said you got on OF Clan server. You got on the classic, not the sniper server right? The sniper is running Jaymod while Classic 1 and 2 are running ETPub 0.9.0 (same as ours). That would rule that out, but then they're running 2.60b while the 4F server is running a hybrid to allow all patches to connect.
This might be the problem?

However, that being said, I threw some MAC binaries on the server tonight. Might or might not work considering these are binaries for the latest nightly build, and not the RC1 we're running. I haven't felt brave enough to update to that build yet...
